Art Song Educational Video Project

CyberSing 2004: See and Hear the winners

This is a demonstration video with which we hope to show one method of making an educational video for teenagers and young college students that introduces them to the world of art song.

We chose to set three American art songs in three unconnected vignettes. The first is Ned Rorem's Early in the Morning, sung by Jordan Shanahan. That is followed by Why Do They Shut Me Out of Heaven? by Aaron Copland. The soprano is Shelly Breneman. Finally, you will see and hear Mary Chesnut in William Bolcom's Amor. The pianist in all three songs is Beebe Freitas.
